So I'm back at college, and I haven't had time to check my lj in a few days. Which shouldn't be a big deal, but trying to catch up with my f-list after all this was very intimidating. So here's my new plan.

-quit whedonland, because while it was fun it took up tons of time
-unfriend people from visualthinker11, except icon posting comms
-ask anyone who wants to be mutual friends to friend radio_silent instead (if you haven't already!)
-please feel free to keep watching this account, i just won't be checking my f-list all too often

Has anyone else felt lj a little too much to keep up with? Have any advice?

question:
i've been really enjoying meta-style discussions with my lj friends of late, and i can't decide  if i should get a second journal to write essays/reviews of all the crazy tv/movies/musicals/etc i'm exposing myself to. it would also be a place to put fanfic, memes, cool links, that sort of thing. but i'm not sure.

since I make icons, i don't usually/ever post memes in my lj. but  pixiegirl131415 just recently suggested one that's very related. i've only been posting icons for about seven months, but i think my work's improved enough that some reflection could be fun...

A trick or technique you use a lot? 
i try not to use any technique too often- things get boring- but i find myself creating black and white icons, or partially black and white icons, more and more often.

A trend you hate? 
honestly, i'm not a fan of using those crosshatching (x-shaped) brushes/textures to fill in extra space in the icon.

One of your favorite set of textures?
_iconographer's "life in technicolor" set.

An icontest you recommend: 
pickmybestis a great opportunity to hear what other people think about your icons and just talk with other iconmakers. i'm also having a lot of fun at btvsats_rumbleright now. as i think pixiegirl131415said, it's a little less competetive than a lims contest, and it gives me an easy excuse to make whedonverse icons every week.
